Welcome to Portland, Oregon the City of Roses and the home of the International Center of Traditional Childbearing (ICTC). Portland is a midwifery and doula friendly city, with wild Coho Salmon, a beautiful view of Mount Hood, access to rivers and fresh local foods.



The conference will be held at the University Place Hotel and Conference Center. This classic downtown hotel off I-405 is a 5-minute walk from the PSU South/SW 5th & Jackson Street MAX Station; and a six-minute walk to Portland State University. The casual rooms and suits offer include coffeemakers, T.V and free Wi-Fi. Upgraded rooms feature microwaves, mini fridges, and balconies with courtyard or hillside views. Suites offer separate sitting areas.

Special rates for ICTC conference attendees can be secured by mentioning the ICTC Room Block. These special prices will be available until September 30, 2015. After September 30, the rates return to the hotel’s normal price. These rates can also be used for Sunday October 11th and Monday October 12, 2015, based on availability. Cots can be rented for $15.00 per night. Cribs are available for free (there are only three cribs). Hotel parking is $25.00 per night.

The hotel has an intimate outside sitting area and is within walking distance to the Naito Parkway Waterfront, for walks along the river, bike rentals, riding the Spirit of Portland, visiting the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, local Jazz Clubs, and the ICTC National Headquarters. You can visit the Farmers Market behind Portland State University on Saturday for fresh local foods, visit Portland Art Museum and other great places.


The Vendor Village hosts our vendors and exhibitors. Vendors may have arts and crafts, jewelry, henna, massage, Black hair care and braiding, African clothing, ICTC T-Shirts and memorabilia, and midwifery, doula and healers books and supplies available for your purchase. CEUs have been applied for most sessions from ACNM, ICTC, MEAC and ICBLC. A Certificate of Attendance will be provided. The CEU fee is $30.00. If interested, please note on your registration form.


Conference registration includes Friday’s Luncheon, Saturday’s Gala Banquet and Awards Ceremony, and the Sunday’s Brunch.


Please wear your name badge throughout the conference to access workshops and for building relationships among attendees.


Transportation to and from the conference is the responsibility of the attendee.

You can narrow your search based on itinerary, departure and arrival dates and more. If you are bringing your baby, you may want to be matched with an attendee who has a baby as well.


We will not be offering child care this year. Breastfeeding infants are welcome in workshops, but the care taker is responsibility to keep them comfortable. At ICTC we believe; “It Takes a Village to Raise a Child”.


Special workshops for youth from ages 15-19 is scheduled. Youth must be accepted via the Youth Committee at conference@ictcmidwives.org.
